I spent a lot of time in school doodling, and hand drawing
mazes. In fact between reading and drawing or doodling - I never had much time for school work. I hand drew these mazes in 2002. My wife,
Jacqui, colored them in with mechanical pencils that had colored leads.
The leads were hard to find at the time. We finally found some on
Ebay, and bought several
lots. The green turned out to be inconsistent,
or was a bad mix. That is why there is a difference in
the green on the
Clear Lake maze. The mazes themselves took about 8-10 hours to draw. An
additional
8-10 hours was spent on coloring them in by Jacqui.
I think the mazes are really cool, but the coloring
gives them depth and
form. I actually spent another 8-10 hours on digitally cleaning them up.
The originals
were a bit smudged by the creation process and had to
have a few smudges, pinched pathways, etc. removed. I have a
"Palm Tree"
maze completed that needs some
color. But with all the time I spend with my rolling ball sculpture,
I may never get time to draw another maze...these were fun though. : )
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

An urge to doodle several small paths
semi-aimlessly in a
very confusing patter of path splits and dead ends...
